Lux Ratikka 2013

Installation, Light Art

Lux Ratikka (Lux Tram in English), was the outcome of the collaboration between three light artists: Meri Ekola, Riikka Karjalainen and Alexander Salvesen. The installation that could be seen on the tram windows, was a visual depiction of the metamorphosis of a butterfly, from egg and birth until death. The installation used programmable LED floodlights intended for theatre use and traditional light bulbs. Thanks to their small energy consumption, the whole piece used less than 3,000 watts of electricity.

The installation was exhibited at the Lux Helsinki Light Festival in Helsinki, January 2013.
