Relations of Colour (2018) investigates our perception and how we don’t see absolute colour but the differences in their relation. What our eyes perceive is not the end truth of our perception. The artwork is based around a triptych of concentric circles and focuses on colour, shape and their relations to each other and the viewer.
The artwork is an continuation on a series of indoor works titled In Relation to Colour that Salvesen has been working on since 2017.
Relations of Colour, was commissioned for Reflektor Light Festival, in Kivinokka, Helsinki, Finland (28-30.9.2018) and has since become an audience favourite and classic in the Finnish light art scene and been exhibited in several light art festivals all around the country.

“We don’t see the world as it is, but as an intricate web of relations between everything. The eye
is in constant motion trying to capture its environment, and creates together with the brain an
ever changing view where we no longer can be sure where the change is happening.”
